DISABILITY INCLUSION AND ACCESS IN THEATER EDUCATION WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION:
Perpich Center for Arts Education is teaming up with Hennepin Theatre Trust’s Spotlight Education Program to offer a special professional development opportunity for theater educators. Saturday, February 18 is an all-day workshop on Disability Inclusion and Access in Theater Education. The day will include:
- A Director Roundtable discussion on popular musicals that touch on issues of disability
- An accessibility-focused movement session with Karla Nweje (Choreographer, Performer, Literary Artist, and Arts Educator)
- A workshop on Anti-Ableism in the classroom and theater with Sarah Kenny (Disability Inclusion Advocate, Arts Administrator and Educator)
- Catered meals
- Tickets to To Kill a Mockingbird at the Orpheum
REGISTRATION FEE:
Your registration fee will help offset the cost of the presenters and cover your catered meals. The fee is $25 and you can pay on the registration page to hold your spot for this event. If cost is a barrier, scholarships are available. Reach out to spotlighteducation@hennepintheatretrust.org.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
K-12 Theater Educators and Directors.
Clock hour certificates are available. This workshop addresses the relicensure topic of “Accommodation, Modification, and Adaptation of Curriculum, Materials, and Instruction.”
