DESCRIPTION:
Along with our partner, Hennepin Theatre Trust, we’re excited to offer a workshop for educators from IDC, Intimacy Directors and Coordinators. Designed with K-12 theater teachers and directors in mind, this course will provide resources for creating lesson plans, games, and exercises centered on the value of personal agency and consent. This full-day workshop will also include an open community conversation about casting with a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access focus, a SLAY! workshop with Brian Bose, and an optional happy hour for educators.

- CEUs (Continuing Education Units) are available for these sessions.
- Masks are required at The Hennepin unless actively eating or drinking and our Studio 900 event space has plenty of room for social distancing.
- Registration is capped at 20, and if there is enough interest on the waiting list, we may offer a second session.
REGISTRATION FEE:
Your registration fee will help offset the cost of the presenters and cover your catered lunch. The fee is $20 and you can pay on the registration page by credit card to hold your spot for this event. If cost is a barrier, scholarships are available. Second Saturday Community Conversation: Casting with a DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Access) Focus – Open invite
Join Spotlight Education Teaching Artists in Residence who serve as Directors, Producers, and Casting Directors in town and engage in a robust dialogue about best practices for equitable and inclusive casting, and creating access for diverse voices in your shows.

IDC (Intimacy Directors and Coordinators) Training: Consent in the Classroom & in Production
Designed with the K-12 theater teacher and director in mind, this course will provide resources for creating lesson plans, games, and exercises centered on the value of personal agency. It will also look at the production process and provide tools to honor student consent at each step. Participants will explore ways in which their existing curriculum can best support authentic communication, scaffolded and diverse opportunities for participation, and joyful creative expression.
*A catered box lunch will be provided during this session.
SLAY! with Brian Bose
Feel fierce and empowered while learning fun choreography, grooving to music, and dancing your way to empowerment. This class creates an open environment to get your cardio up, move your body, and challenge yourself. Strip away fears and perfectionism while learning how to get out of your own way so you have no choice but to slay. No prerequisite or dance experience necessary.

Wrap the day by connecting with your fellow directors, educators, and teaching artists from across the state over beer, wine, or a NA beverage. One drink ticket per person will be included in the registration fee.
