musical THEATER

As part of the theater department, Perpich Arts High School premiered a two-year musical theater track in the 2021-2022 school year.

This new track enhances students’ overall knowledge of the art form and the skills within the ‘triple threat’ requirements of musical theater – acting, singing, and movement. This is an intensive and prescribed program which may include after school and some weekend commitments for additional program enhancement.

This program is designed as a pre-professional program for those students who are interested in pursuing a post-secondary education in musical theater or working as a professional performer.

Audition requirements: In addition to the elements for the theater program audition, students interested in the musical theater track will need to complete both a vocal audition and a movement/dance audition. The vocal audition will require the prospective students to present a memorized performance of a selection from the musical theater canon. The movement/dance audition will be a movement combination that will assess the prospective students’ knowledge and/or ability to perform the basic musical theater movement vocabulary.

“Perpich is the best school for me because it provides a diverse student population, artistic environment, and academic opportunities that can't be found anywhere else in the state.”

Literary Arts Student from Plymouth

“My teachers encourage me to push myself outside of my comfort zone and to always strive to better my art, never settling for good enough.”

Theater Student from Sartell

"For 17 years I’d carried the bulk of my children’s education myself. Sending the two oldest away to Perpich was a huge step of faith and I have not been disappointed. The teachers, in particular, have been fabulous!"

Perpich Arts High School Parent

"[Perpich] was a hugely formative experience for me and I think gave me many of the tools to get to this point of doing meaningful work that I love."

Andrew Edman (Visual Arts 2005)

“From the moment I came to Perpich, it was like a college campus, with an emphasis on independence and finding your own self, with training in academics and becoming an artist.”

Trent Ramert (Theater 2020)
